fe.screen-SIM – The tool for efficient virtual commissioning

With fe.screen-sim, the IT division of automation specialist F.EE has launched a 3D simulation software that enables simulation, planning, and virtual commissioning for conveyor systems, mechanical engineering, robotics, and logistics. This allows you to create a digital image of your systems and machines—a so-called “digital twin” that behaves exactly like the real system/machine.

AI integration via MCP interface

With the newly added MCP (Model Context Protocol) interface, fe.screen-sim is one of the first virtual commissioning tools to enable direct connection to AI systems, LLMs, and workflow solutions such as Claude, n8n, or Cursor. This makes fe.screen-sim an integral part of AI supported engineering processes and enables, for example, automated simulation creation – a forward-looking extension of the software and a significant efficiency gain in the digital development process.

Web client: Simulation in the browser

With the new web client, the digital twin software can be used directly in the browser without local installation. Rendering takes place on the server side, so simulations can be displayed smoothly on less powerful PCs or mobile devices, regardless of the platform. Simple interactions such as pressing buttons are also possible. In conjunction with the multi-user function, which allows multiple clients to access a digital twin simultaneously, fe.screen-sim becomes even more flexible in its application.

Advanced interfaces: Openness for every system environment

Technological openness is a key development principle of the F.EE software division. Since flexible connection options are very important to many customers, the number of interfaces has been significantly expanded—from 24 to 33 connections.

• Universal interfaces:
  In addition to established standards such as OPC UA, Microsoft SQL, Oracle SQL and Modbus, new interfaces such as MQTT and acontis EtherCAT are now also available.
   
• PLC interfaces:
  In addition to the existing connections to Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, Fanuc, B&R and Mitsubishi, fe.screen-sim now also supports Bosch Rexroth ctrlX and Rockwell Logix Echo Network Interface. The new CODESYS Simulation Interface (preview) also provides a particularly fast connection option for CODESYS-based controllers.
   
• Robot interfaces:
  The range of supported robot manufacturers has been expanded to include ESTUN, Epson, NACHI and isel—in addition to the existing interfaces for all common systems on the market.

With these enhancements, fe.screen-sim is even more versatile, supports heterogeneous system landscapes, and significantly reduces integration times.

MIL designer: The navigation system for conveyor systems

Another new feature is MIL designer, which enables the rapid design and optimization of conveyor systems without any PLC connection. The tool analyzes material flows, determines optimal transport routes, and simulates processes—even faster than in real time, if desired. With the integrated analytics module, data can also be evaluated live and process optimizations validated directly.

Effective project management with the FactWork.Projektplaner

In addition to our fe.screen product range, we also present the “FactWork.ProjektPlaner.”

This is a tool developed specifically for industrial project management with comprehensive functions. It supports users throughout all project phases – from graphical planning and task management to additional cost recording, travel planning and reporting, right through to the visualization and processing of tasks using individually definable status columns. This enables project managers and teams to keep track of progress, responsibilities, and resources at all times and to sustainably increase the productivity and efficiency of their project work. The tool is available both via the web and as an app and can be flexibly integrated into other ERP systems.

Like many other F.EE software products, the project planner is in daily use at our company – and is therefore continuously being further developed. This makes project management what it should be: uncomplicated, clear, transparent and efficient.
