Cobots and Robot Cells: 300 Students Explore F.EE in Neunburg

Some 300 eighth and ninth graders visited F.EE in Neunburg vorm Wald from October 12 to 16 to learn about technical careers. The occasion was the “Aktionstage Ausbildung” (Apprenticeship Action Days), in which the company has taken part for more than ten years.

The classes came from six schools in Schwandorf and Cham counties: the Mittelschule and the Realschule in Neunburg vorm Wald, the Mittelschule and the Ortenburg-Gymnasium in Oberviechtach, and the Mittelschulen in Waldmünchen and Bruck. The program had two parts: the M+E InfoTruck run by bayme vbm, the Bavarian metal and electrical industry employers’ associations, and a tour of the company.

Inside the InfoTruck, students found a variety of multimedia applications and interactive hands-on stations. Among other activities, they programmed a CNC milling machine and operated a cobot, a collaborative robot that works side by side with people without protective barriers. The InfoTruck team was also on hand to answer questions and provide information about apprenticeships in the metal and electrical industries.

During the company tour, the classes visited F.EE’s training workshops and production halls, among other areas, and gained insight into the wide range of tasks that metalworking and electrical careers involve. A robot cell that is one of F.EE’s apprentice training projects drew particular interest.

“The earlier young people experience the opportunities an industrial company offers, the more deliberately they can factor them into their career choices later on. For us, it’s also a key way to attract and retain skilled workers in the region. That’s why the Action Days have been an integral part of our early talent outreach for years,” says Udo Starck, Head of Human Resources at F.EE.

Students who want to explore specific careers in more depth can complete an internship at F.EE, usually lasting one week, with dates available year-round. Applications for apprenticeships starting in 2027 are already open.
